What is AWS Route 53?
AWS Route 53 is a highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) web service designed to route end users to Internet applications. It translates domain names into IP addresses and offers domain registration, DNS routing, and health checking services. Route 53 supports multiple routing policies including simple, weighted, latency-based, failover, geolocation, geoproximity, and multi-value answer routing. It provides 100% uptime SLA and integrates with other AWS services like ELB, CloudFront, and S3. Route 53 can also be used for private DNS within VPCs and supports DNSSEC for domain security.
