What is Amazon SQS?

Amazon SQS (Simple Queue Service) is a fully managed message queuing service that enables decoupling and scaling of microservices, distributed systems, and serverless applications. It offers two types of queues: Standard queues provide maximum throughput and at-least-once delivery, while FIFO queues guarantee exactly-once processing and message ordering. SQS automatically scales to handle message volume and provides unlimited throughput. Messages can be retained for up to 14 days and support up to 256 KB of text data. SQS integrates with Lambda for serverless message processing and provides dead-letter queues for handling message failures.
